Setting up your AlterMe account is part of registering your DNA Kit—you'll get those instructions when you receive your DNA Kit! Your phone number is at the center of it: it's how we verify you when you sign up, log back in, or sign into the AlterMe App if you decide to become a member of the full program.
Here's how it works:
Enter your US mobile number and verify it with a one-time code (OTP).
Once your number has been verified, you'll have an AlterMe account!
That's it. If anything goes sideways, the FAQs below should help, or reach out to our Member Success Team!
My phone number is already in use.
Because each phone number is tied to exactly one account for security, you can't register the same number twice. A few reasons this happens:
You created an account before and forgot about it.
You started registration but didn't finish it. Try logging in instead.
Someone else registered with your number (unlikely, given we verify phone numbers, but contact support if you believe this has happened to you).
Try: Log in at the portal using your phone number.
I'm not getting the verification code!
Make sure you entered a valid US mobile number. International numbers aren't supported.
Check that the number isn't a VoIP or landline (texts won't deliver to those).
Wait up to 60 seconds. SMS can be slow.
Check if your carrier is blocking shortcodes. Try texting "START" to the number if you received anything.
Make sure you haven't blocked the number.
If none of that works: Contact support with your phone number and they can check if the send failed on the backend.
My verification code isn't working!
Codes expire quickly (typically a few minutes). Request a new one.
Don't copy-paste with extra spaces. Enter it manually.
Each code is single-use. If you requested multiple, only the latest one works.
I started registering but didn't finish. What do I do?
No worries—just go to AlterMe Registration, and start again. We'll help you pick up where you left off.
I already have an account but registration is asking me to sign up again.
No need to create a new account! Go to the login page and use your phone number to receive a one-time code, or log in with your email and password if you set that up.
