Is my DNA secure with AlterMe?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Yes. Your DNA samples and data are handled under strict medical and regulatory standards to ensure security, privacy, and confidentiality.

  • Certified Laboratory: All testing is conducted in a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory, located in Utah, USA. These certifications represent the highest level of quality and compliance in clinical diagnostics.

  • Anonymized Data: After your kit ID is confirmed against the AlterMe lab order at intake, all specimens and data are de-identified. This means your personal information is separated from your genetic data at every stage of testing.

  • Sample & DNA Destruction: Your physical swab is destroyed immediately after processing. Extracted DNA is maintained only as required for quality assurance and regulatory compliance. This retention period is 45 days after results are reported. After that, the DNA is securely destroyed.

Your DNA is processed in a regulated clinical environment, anonymized for privacy, and destroyed once analysis is complete. Your results remain securely tied only to your AlterMe profile.
