Wearing a biometric ring is one of the most powerful ways to understand your body—tracking sleep quality, recovery, readiness, and heart rate metrics over time. Because AlterMe’s ring is a precision biometric device (not a traditional jewelry ring), getting the right size is essential for accurate tracking and long-term comfort.
AlterMe offers a variety of ring styles, including the AlterMe Ring, the AlterMe Ultra Ring, and the AlterMe Classic Ring, to suit different preferences and needs.
Proper sizing starts with selecting your ring preferences and utilizing the provided sizing kit during the initial ordering process.
How do I exchange or resize my AlterMe ring?
If you need to exchange your AlterMe ring for a different size or style, please contact our Member Success team to get started. We currently offer three ring styles: the AlterMe Ring, the AlterMe Ultra Ring, and the AlterMe Classic ring. Each ring style has its own sizing kit, so you’ll need to select your preferred ring style before we can send a sizing kit. A Member Success agent can help you choose between the ring styles offered.
If you're ordering a new style AlterMe ring, you’ll begin by selecting your ring preferences—this includes options for style and color. After confirming your preferences and submitting your order, a sizing kit will be sent to you to ensure the right fit.
A ring sizing kit is provided both for first-time orders and in cases of exchanges or resizing. Once you receive the correct kit for your selected ring style, we recommend wearing the ring sizer for at least 24 hours to ensure the most accurate fit, since finger size can fluctuate throughout the day.
Replacement ring pricing varies. Contact Member Success for pricing and to place your order. Member Success is available Monday–Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST. Click the AlterMe icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen to start a chat, or call (866) 258-3763 to speak directly with a member of our Support Team.
Ring sizing tips (recommended)
Below we provide additional notes about the unique features and sizing considerations of all available AlterMe ring styles, including the slimmer ring.
To help ensure the best fit and avoid the need for an exchange, please follow the sizing steps below.
For the most consistent tracking, we recommend your index (pointer) finger on your non-dominant hand. Alternatively, you can wear it on your index (pointer) finger on the same hand if it feels more secure and comfortable. Avoid wearing the ring on your pinky or thumb, as these placements can reduce tracking accuracy.
Which finger should I wear the ring on?
For the most consistent tracking, we recommend your index finger on your non-dominant hand. You can also wear it on your middle or ring finger—the best choice is the finger that feels the most secure and comfortable.
Use the ring sizer (wear for 24 hours)
Once your sizing kit arrives, choose a size that feels close to right and wear the sizer for at least 24 hours (including sleep, daily activity, and washing hands/showering). Finger size naturally changes throughout the day, so this helps you choose a size that fits in real life—not just in the moment.Additionally, assess the fit of the sizer at different times of the day to account for natural finger size fluctuations. Ensure the ring does not rotate or require frequent adjustment when worn, as a properly fitting ring should stay in place without causing discomfort.
Once you have decided on the size, follow the instructions provided to communicate your confirmed size back to AlterMe—either through an online portal or by contacting Member Success.
How should it fit?
Your ring should feel snug but not tight. You should feel slight resistance over your knuckle, and the ring should not rotate freely or feel uncomfortable. If you’re between sizes, consider testing both sizes throughout the day to account for finger size fluctuations. Prioritize comfort—if the larger size feels loose most of the time, opt for the smaller size. Conversely, if the smaller size feels painfully tight, choose the larger size.
Why sizing matters
Accurate tracking depends on consistent sensor contact. A loose ring can cause disrupted readings, while a tight ring can be uncomfortable and lead to wearing it less often. Consistent wear and fit provide the best data and insights. If you are deciding between two close sizes, consider factors like snugness, comfort, and finger swelling. Testing both sizes throughout the day can help you determine which size provides the best balance of comfort and functionality.
How to Choose Between Two Close Sizes
If you are deciding between two close sizes, follow these steps:
Assess Fit Throughout the Day: Try both sizes at different times of the day to account for natural finger size fluctuations.
Prioritize Comfort: If the larger size feels loose most of the time, opt for the smaller size. Conversely, if the smaller size feels painfully tight, choose the larger size.
Test for Movement: Ensure the ring does not rotate or require frequent adjustment when worn. A properly fitting ring should stay in place without causing discomfort.
By following these steps, you can select a ring size that ensures both comfort and optimal performance.
