Ring placement matters more during sleep than at any other time — your body is still, so the sensor data carries more weight.
The basics
Sensors face your palm side — the flat optical sensors on the inside of the band need consistent contact with your skin to read heart rate and movement accurately
Fit is snug, not tight — the ring shouldn't slide around freely, but your finger shouldn't feel compressed. A loose ring loses contact with the sensor; an overly tight one can restrict circulation and affect readings
Skin is clean and dry — lotion or moisture between the ring and your skin can interfere with the optical sensors
Which finger should I use?
We recommend your pointer, middle, or ring finger for best results.
Signs your fit might be affecting your data
Unusually high "awake" time throughout the night
Missing sleep data in the morning
Heart rate readings that look inconsistent or flat
If any of these show up regularly, start with fit before assuming something is wrong with your data.
