What is Apple Health (HealthKit) and how does AlterMe use it?

Apple Health (HealthKit) is Apple’s central hub for storing your health and activity data from apps and devices. When you connect AlterMe to HealthKit, we securely import select data points—like heart rate, workouts, and weight—to give you a more complete picture of your daily activity and recovery. Popular apps such as Strava, Peloton, and Nike Run Club also sync to Apple Health, which means those workouts can flow into AlterMe as well. However, it is important to note that step data from Apple Health or an Apple Watch cannot be synced into the AlterMe app. This means that users cannot import their step counts from Apple Health into AlterMe for tracking purposes.

While AlterMe provides valuable insights into biometric data, it does not support syncing all types of data from external platforms. For example, step data from Apple Health is not compatible with AlterMe, which may limit its utility for users who rely on Apple Health for comprehensive activity tracking.

This helps us personalize your readiness score and daily recommendations using all the information your body is generating. To learn more about managing your Health app data and permissions, you can reference Apple’s support article here. By understanding both the capabilities and limitations of AlterMe's integration with Apple Health, users can make more informed decisions about their biometric tracking needs.
