When should I use the power cycle and factory reset?

Power Cycle & Factory Reset — what they do and when to use them.

Updated this week

Power Cycle

What it does: Turns the ring off and back on (a soft reset).
When to use it: First troubleshooting step for common connection or pairing issues—quick, safe, and does not erase any data.
How it helps: Resets the device’s connection to the app and often fixes temporary glitches.

Factory Reset

What it does: Erases all data on the ring and returns it to factory settings.
When to use it: Only for persistent problems that aren’t resolved by power cycling or other troubleshooting.
Important: This action deletes all data stored on the ring and will require you to re-pair it in the charging case after the reset. We recommend reaching out to our Success team first to confirm it’s necessary.

Note: While the ring is actively syncing data to the app, Power Cycle and Factory Reset will be temporarily disabled to prevent accidental data loss.
