How do I pair my ring (and fix pairing issues)?

If you ring isn't pairing, don't worry-this is usually a quick fix.

Updated this week

Start with the quick checklist below.

Quick Pairing Checklist (Most Issues Are Fixed Here)

✔ Ensure you are on the latest AlterMe app version

✔Make sure your phone's OS is up to date.

✔ Your phone’s Bluetooth is turned ON and AlterMe has Bluetooth permissions enabled

✔ You are pairing inside the AlterMe app (not your phone’s Bluetooth menu)

✔ The ring is fully seated in the charging case

✔ The charging case is plugged into power

✔ The ring is inside the charger and within 1–2 feet of your phone

✔Your ring has charged for 20–30 minutes

✔Restart the app by force quitting and reopening it. If issues persist, reinstall the app to refresh settings.

If the ring still isn’t detected, continue below.

Step 1: Make Sure Your Ring Is Charging Properly

Incorrect charging placement is the most common cause of pairing issues.

Your ring must be seated in the charging case and actively charging for your phone to detect it. Gently wipe both the ring’s charging contacts and the charging surface with a dry microfiber cloth to remove any debris or moisture. Plug the charging case into an outlet using a USB-C cord. Follow the charging steps below based on your ring model.

AlterMe Classic Ring

  1. A blue light on the outside of the charging case will indicate the case is receiving power.

  2. Place the ring on the pedestal inside the case.

  3. Align the three notches on the ring with the three grooves on the charging pedestal inside the case.

  4. Confirm the green sensor light inside the ring is visible. A blinking green sensor light inside the ring will show the ring is charging. A solid green light inside the ring indicates the ring is fully charged.

AlterMe Ultra Ring

  1. A green light on the outside of the charging case will indicate the case is getting power.

  2. Reseat the ring on the charger—it should sit aligned with the ring charging notches at the top of the case. Make sure your Ultra Ring is pressed fully into the case. It should be a secure fit.

  3. Confirm the green sensor light inside the ring is visible. A blinking green sensor light inside the ring will show the ring is charging. A solid green light inside the ring indicates the ring is fully charged.

  1. A green light on the outside of the charging case will indicate the case is getting power.

  2. Place the ring on the charging pedestal inside the ring charging case. The magnet in the pedestal will hold the ring in place. Proper placement is confirmed when the ring light illuminates. If the light does not turn on, slightly rotate the ring until it does.

  3. Confirm the green sensor light inside the ring is visible. A blinking green sensor light inside the ring will show the ring is charging. A solid green light inside the ring indicates the ring is fully charged.

Step 2: Pair Your Ring in the AlterMe App

Once your ring has charged for 20-30 minutes:

  1. Turn Bluetooth ON on your phone.

  2. Keep the ring inside the charger and within 1–2 feet of your phone.

  3. Open the AlterMe app.

If this is your first login

Follow the pairing prompts during onboarding.

If you already logged in before receiving your ring

If you logged in before receiving your ring, tap “Start” in the Pair Your Ring card on the Today tab or tap the ring icon in the upper right.

Follow the prompts to complete pairing.

⚠️ Important: Always pair your ring inside the AlterMe app, not through your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
